11th December 1940
The sea has not been too bad today, but the “Ethel” has been rolling pretty badly.
At about 2.40 this afternoon we sighted a tramp on our port bow. She was one of the ships that got lost during the fog. This evening, it started to hail, and what with the high wind it stung pretty badly. I think I know all the flags now, and could take the wheel if necessary.
