15th December 1940

At day break we were all in sight of each other but none of us were in our correct positions.

Heavy blizzards and a high wind made morsing difficult. The commodore altered course to 20°S to keep the wind astern of us. He then reduced speed to 6 ½ knots. Since 4pm the weather has moderated considerably and we are now all in our positions. It is quite a change to be in comparative quietness. We were 60 miles further on than we thought we were! Still no escort at 30°W! Weird “lights” were seen on the aerial.
