We were slightly out in our latitude this morning, because there was no sun to get a sight. This meant that when we thought we had arrived at the rendezvous we were not! And so we have given up all hope of convoy and escort and are proceeding flat out (9 knots) for Manchester. We had some more submarine positions today. We had to alter course for one of them. It’s annoying when they get in the way. We are in longit. 12.59W roughly, so should sight the Irish coast during the day. Food is getting worse and is very scarce. We have been fortunate that the weather has been so calm for the last two days. (Fortunate in one sense anyway!).
