23rd December 1940

So far we have just been messing about. I think we eventually intend to anchor outside the canal. There was talk of going to Liverpool instead, but that is not so. Fog fell when we were just outside Liverpool. We had to anchor. At 5pm a Norwegian M.V. twin screw, collided with our bows. She tore one of the anchors away, plus the chain, and dented the bow.

Another dry dock job!! The poor old “Ethel” shook considerably. Have been doing the Unemployment accounts for the old man.
