Yesterday’s evening dinner would, I should think, have cost at least for shillings and sixpence. Soup, fish, turkey, boiled and baked potatoes, celery, green peas and gravy. Lemon jelly, coffee, cheese and biscuits brought up the rear.
Whichever way we look now N. S. E. or W. – all we see for 3000 miles is sea! Still, the time is going quickly and I mustn’t grumble. There are great discussions and debates at mealtimes as to whether Italy will join in the war. I prefer to forget about it because none of us really knows the whole news. We only get scraps here and there.
