15th April 1941
The wind has dropped now, and we roll gently, to a beam swell. There is a chance that we shall go to the States for dry-docking. There is also a chance that we shall stay on this ship for another 18 months!
My only wish is that I could get some proper exercise. My muscles have all tightened up most alarmingly, and are useless for anything requiring agility.
When I look back over the past year, I realize how quickly things have happened, and how lucky or rather fortunate, I have been. Many and happy are the memories which I shall carry back with me into civilian life.
