3rd June 1941

End of voyage to Curacao.

Well we came up to the Stanlow at seven o’clock this morning, and started discharging at about 11.

A false alarm occurred about the mail this morning – they said it was coming, but it wasn’t!

I tried to phone Purley in the evening, but the telephonist said it would be better in the morning. Paddy got drunk unfortunately this evening. He didn’t want to, but one of the engineers got him into it. I met a chap – O’Connor, off the “British Pride”, who was at the same wireless school as Paddy. He said Paddy took two attempts at the exam and was there for about seven months.

The weather has been dull and cloudy, with occasional bursts of sunshine.
