After a very late breakfast, Mum, Dad and myself managed to get a train to Liverpool, or rather to one station past Bootle (the line being damaged), where a bus met us and took us to Liverpool. From there we took the ferry to Birkenhead, and caught a bus to Chester. We liked Chester a lot – it being a very old place, with even “Boots” in a tudor styled building! After wondering about here and there, we ended up in the pictures and later caught a bus to Birkenhead where we parted.
When I arrived back on board, the mail had arrived, so I was kept busy reading until 2am. Paddy was back, after greeting his brother in Church Fenton.
