7th June 1941

Most of today has been spent in writing letters – not so small a task as it may sound! We shifted up to Eastham locks as previously arranged, at about 6.30am.

One letter from Jock told me of his adventures on his return journey from Halifax. Apparently the convoy was attacked in quite a big way and a tanker disappeared into thin air! They escaped quite safely until approaching London, they were “pipped” by an E-boat. He is now on a months leave. The letter was heavily censored.
