16th June 1941
Spasmodic periods of fog and rain, have made things pretty miserable on the whole, though of course it is not noticed much as most of us are inside.
A piece of iron floated past us in the afternoon! It was probably a deck rail with a piece of deck flanking still attached to it.
We were made guide ship while the Commodore had her engines fixed up. The escort sent some men across in a whaler, though we don’t know why.
