VISITED “RADIO CITY” MUSIC HALL

I did very little during the day, excepting some shopping, but one of the soldiers and myself went to the “Radio City” music hall and film show in the evening. The M.H is the largest in the world and seats 6,200! The whole evening went perfectly and the show was really good. The film – excellent in itself – was called “Blossoms in the Dust” and was followed by a silly symphony. After the R.C’s own orchestra (70 in number), came up on the moveable stage and played an overture. Then four acts on the stage completed the programme. The chorus must have been at least 50 or 60 strong, and the lighting was really spectacular.

Although we were only three rows from the stage, the film wasn’t a bit distorted and was quite easily seen and heard from the back of the theatre.

Downstairs, a terrific lounge was given over simply to Smokers or those who wanted to lounge!
