21st July 1941
Oh! What a glorious morning it was at 7 o’clock! The water was so calm that there was ne’er a “shiver” in the sharp reflections of the many ships, and the surrounding country. The sun, even then, was very warm. Most of the later morning, I spent in attending to the batteries, whilst Mr Bonner was ashore at the convoy conference.
At 11 o’clock, Jack and I went for another swim and though it is pretty cold, we are beginning to get acclimatised to it now. In the afternoon I did some more to the batteries had a sunbath and went in for another swim -lovely. In the evening four or five of us took the jolly boat out for a row. It was marvellous. On the whole it has been a wonderful day.
