29th July 1941
The wind and the sea rose considerably during the night, and all day seas have been lopping over the sides in a seething mass of foam.
This afternoon visibility was poor and fog seems pretty certain. Still, poor visibility doesn’t help the subs, neither does it hurt us – provided that it is not too thick.
We have had a lot of trouble with Paddy lately, owing to his poor receiving and general lack of common sense. In fog, we double-bank on his watch as he missed a lot in the Belle Isle Straits.
