We are now well into the tropic zone and have been in whites since Sunday.
At 8pm, we sighted a light on Bahama Islands, which is near the coast of Florida.
We shall round Key West (southern tip of Florida) tomorrow, and after that, will no longer keep a black out. It will be the first time that I have been on a ship non blacked out at sea! It will be a great relief to be able to leave the wireless room door open on watch, for that was always the trouble on the W- the heat! One just sits for 4 hrs and sweats!
I don’t think any author has ever exaggerated about the tropical sunshine, blue seas and flying fishes etc., because it is impossible to exaggerate, whether it’s the day time or the night – they’re both beautiful.
