7th March 1942

Just before midnight last night, we had a very heavy snow storm, but by the morning, it had all cleared away and the horizon was particularly sharp.

The sea was just a wee bit too oily for comfort, and the sky was by no means clear of snow.

Sure enough, in the afternoon down came the snow again, this time in bigger flakes. Towards evening however, it was only spasmodic, but the wind was freshening considerably on the starboard side.

The rear Com. Seems to be an awfully nice chap and makes the old man appear rather rough and crude with his somewhat “old school tie” accent! He is quite willing to learn about convoys from rock bottom.
