12th January 1944

We sailed at 1330 for Leith. We had to pass under the Forth Bridge, a rather disappointing structure I thought. We tied up in Leith at about 1730, head-on to the dock. To get ashore we had to clamber down a rope latter – right down the stern post. The Old Man gave us permission to go home until the ship returned to Grangemouth. George and I succeeded in catching the 1950 to Kings X.
