3rd February 1944

We reached the entrance to the Loch at 0500 and heaved anchor again at 0900 for Oban. The wind blew hard as we drew from the lee of the hills.

Spray lashed across the decks. The hills looked marvellous even at this time of the year and it was easy to visualise how beautiful they would be in summer.

When the pilot came aboard at 1100, he said the convoy conference was at 0900!! There are 17 ships astern of us waiting to come up so I don’t expect we shall go today.
