Age
20 Years

5th March 1944

The Old Man had 2 army Captains and a Lieut. down to dinner. They got very tight, and by evening time were incapable. The 3rd Mate, 3rd Eng, 2 sailors and I were the only sober ones aboard with the exception of the gunners and we had to shift ship this evening. We had an awful time. The mate wasn’t on the foc’sle and the Old Man was on the bridge yelling drunken orders. It took us an awful age to get tied up.
