As we are now well into the Pacific, I have passed the equator, the first operator decided it would be safe to listen in to the news for a few minutes. It’s rather reminded me of the first days of wireless because we were both sitting there with earphones on, listening to ordinary speech. When we heard Big BenStriking, the chief asked me is it made me wish I were at home. He said it did him. It seems funny, Because he has been at C for nearly 25 years, but still thinks is a a long way to New Zealand! This is the first time that we have made contact with the BBC since we left.
I wouldn’t say it is as hot as perhaps one would expect after crossing the line but it is hot enough to walk about in just shorts, and have a cold bath and comfort, yes still be perspiring!
