28th February 1942
I got up at about 9 o’clock this morning, went up town to do a little shopping, and then came back to the Mission to finish off some letters.
Manchester’s warship week is on, and they aim at £12,000,000.
The fire blitz here must have been very bad because huge areas have been cleared entirely of buildings. They say there were very few high explosives.
As far as I have seen, the centre of the city is quite nice as British cities go. There are one or two quite impressive buildings.
