While the train was standing in Euston Station last night, the siren’s sounded. To my surprise a sort of plane flew very low over the skylight in the roof and became caught in the glare of the searchlight. All of a sudden its engine cut and there was a terrific explosion. We in the train thought it was an ordinary plane, but the paper tells us it is a new pilotless plane, or P-plane. It travels at high speed, low altitude and on an even course. Its engine cuts after a certain period, then, after a delay of 30 seconds, there is a terrific explosion, mostly blast. Several of them have been coming over throughout the day and sirens have been wailing. Dad, Tom and I are not turning in tonight (I returned to London yesterday pm).
