I managed to see Wells Cathedral today. I caught the 1300 hours bus (they run every hour) from Princes St terminus. The journey occupied about 1 ΒΌ hours. I did quite a bit of sketching, despite the numerous visitors.

Perhaps the most startling thing from the point of view of the Gothic daring was the Lady Chapel vaulting. The remarkable preservation of the interior stonework gives the Cathedral an air of youthfulness that belies the facts. The whole thing is a grand effort and could be studied ad lib.
