Location
Train - Swansea to Purley
Age

4th August 1944

As there was still nothing signing on today, Mr Taylor said I could go home for the Bank Holiday weekend. I caught the 2140 train and was lucky enough to find standing room in the corridor of a carriage carrying mostly Land Army girls. At Cardiff, most of them got out, but there was one standing near me who was going to London, so sat next to her. We soon got into conversation, and I learned that she was going to meet her fiancé in the Garden City. She seemed to be a very nice girl. Eventually she went to sleep on my shoulder! At Paddington I was going to go with her to Kings Cross on the Underground when she suddenly saw her fiancé on the platform. He was supposed to meet her at W.G.C.
