Last night we altered course to the south’ard. The wind has increased and the sea is on our beam. We have rolled very heavily. Two ships have been unable to keep up with us, despite the fact that we haven’t gone above 7 ½ knots so far. We altered course again this afternoon. The wind has abated a little and rain squalls are less frequent.
