There was a fresh breeze blowing when day broke today, but the weather was fine and clear and we were just rounding Land’s End. We were pretty close in and so could see most of the prominent features on Britain’s extremity! The yellow patches of cornfields contrasted against the dark green of the grass fields. We passed many beautiful little spots through the day: little hidden bays that probably the ordinary visitors never gets to.

We passed Plymouth in the late afternoon and by turning in time, were well on our way to Weymouth. Numbers of minesweepers and invasion craft have been passing us. We hear the grand news today of the Invasion of Southern France.
