I had to get up at 0500, but had a lovely sleep before that. Auntie very kindly got me some breakfast and off I went. I arrived at the quay at 0700. The ship had gone at 2000 the night before! After a number of inquiries, I went to the Agent’s office and learned that she was at Yarmouth Roads! The only thing was to go to Cowes on the ferry. I went back to Auntie, had a cup of coffee and caught the 1100 boat which arrived at Cowes at 1230. The number and variety of ships in the river was amazing. The Officer on watch at Naval Control didn’t know where the “British Renown” was so I had to wait until 1400, when his relief came on. He soon found out, and a van took me to Yarmouth – quite a pretty run, except for the rain. The naval control here was not quite so obliging at first but I managed to get a launch out eventually at 1700 and arrived aboard none the worse for wear.
