I left Purley at 2130 yesterday despite snow and headwind, on my bicycle. We did very little during the day. I went to the canteen and made valiant efforts to cope with the washing up!
I caught the 2220 Gravesend train and luckily the “unofficial” ferry from there to Tilbury; after that I started out for Stanford-le-hope, but somehow became lost. Eventually I had to take out my compass & find the North Star for confirmation as to which direction I was travelling!!
Eventually, however, I came across St. le Hope, & then the long run across the marshes to Shell Haven & Coreys, which is the furthest away of all, & only about 12 m. from Southend! I arrived at 01:30.
