25th June 1945
Spent the morning in spring cleaning the W/T room. This afternoon went to see Mrs Bondrist but she had gone on holiday for 3 weeks.
This evening I cycled to Hemixem and saw Marianne and Carol. José was in town with her sister.
Carol told me of her experiences in a German munitions factory. She made shells for tanks. She said food was very bad, and conditions poor. Her sister was there too. Carol was 18 1/2: her sister 17.
I had supper with them. It consisted of dark bread rolls with butter and small pieces of ham, black coffee, and a plate of biscuits.
