We left the hotel at 2010, after making the customary farewells. A lorry took us, and the gear to the station. It was a pretty bumpy journey, but everyone was laughing and we finally ended up in pretty good spirits.
Molly was in a gas mask case, with just her head protruding. She looked very sorrowful – poor thing!
At the station we had a tough time shifting from one platform to another, seeing the gear aboard, and trying XXX the crew.
There seemed to be innumerable parties of G.I.s , American Red Cross girls, and French civilians. Eventually, our train came in at 23:00 hours and we boarded after some bother. I put my cycle in the corridor. We were quite comfortable and I slept reasonably well.
Young BMWT worker came from Brighton, and was educated at the school on welcomes Road, Kenley!!
