Today brought the Grand news of a second front in West Africa, started by the Americans, who are said to have landed many scores of thousands of troops on both the Atlantic and Mediterranean coast. Also in New Guinea the Yanks have nearly captured Buna which is of great value to the Japs.

Petain has told the French army to oppose the Americans and President Roosevelt has spoken to the French people, in French, asking them to cooperate as much as possible, but not to start an open rebellion yet, as the time has not come —— but would come.
