I spoke to Major MORLING this evening. He is not very tall, wears a monocle in his right eye, has a youthful appearance and a nonchalant manner.
It appears that his family have been builders in Seaford for centuries. He never made a real success as an architect [according to him] and finally ended up in the financial side of his family’s business.
He painted the hard side of the life for me-long hours and years of study etc-but added that it had its good side.
