11th April 1943

Just another day alongside waiting for coolies to load the coal which is alongside the ship. The 2nd Mate (Andrews), a chap from Vancouver originally, but who has lived most of his life in London, gave one of his usual arguments, the main theme of which was that British people will allow the old government to come back into power & would return to the old ways after the war. He hates the stick-in-the-mud attitude of British people. For all that, however, he is a nice fellow.
