Sailed for Calcutta at 1 pm.

British, Canadian & American forces have landed on the Italian mainland across the Messina Straits.

The war has been on 4 years today. 4 years since we all heard on one sunny Sunday morning Chamberlain’s dramatic words, “we are now at war with Germany!”

A large cargo vessel with a heavy deck cargo was waiting at the mouth of the river to go to Chittagong. It looks as if something will start here soon.
