27th September 1943

I collected my pay from Philips this morning & went out to buy a few souvenirs. There was no mail at the STO for me.

I gave my last annas to a rickshaw wallah who took me to the Marine Club.

I got back aboard at about 5 pm & turned in at 8. Jock came down from the “Mantola” at abt. 9. We sailed at 1140. It was a grand feeling to have the screw turning in the right direction.
