30th September 1943
It was very hot sleeping last night. The fumes from the diesel engine never get away from my cabin. The weather has been very hot & the sea smooth. We were off Vizagapatam at 8 pm. We are keeping the coast in sight all the way. Sometimes it looks like the Welsh or Scottish coast line, with the low, sandy beaches & blue misty mountains rising behind. The sand is just a little too red though to be home.
