23rd October 1943
We have remained at anchor all day. I have swum 3 times. The conference was held at 4 pm. We are to be Commodore. We have a P.O. & 6 signallers besides the Com. himself.
The papers say that a convoy off the N.W. coast of Africa was attacked by aircraft & 16 planes were shot down.
We are busily reading up our new instructions & remembering various code words. The “Neuralia” is in company with us as far as Bari in Italy; so is the “Talma”. Both ships are bound for Bari (Italy); only 2 ships — a Frenchman & ourselves — are going to Gib.
