EGGS & BACON

I arrived back here in Liverpool at 2 o’clock this morning, only to discover that we shall not be sailing for at least four or five days. The underground railways in London were very crowded, and people were preparing to sleep on the platforms.

No guns have been heard for the last two nights here. A chap on board had a letter from someone who was in a convoy outward bound which lost 5 ships, and in the return convoy the escorting armed cruiser was decoyed and sunk. In the night a sub surfaced, lit a flare and torpedoed 3 ships. Next day it shelled more. 9 ships were lost!
