BEEF
SAILED FOR SWANSEA
At last we are away! We managed to start leaving the docks at about 11A.M.
Just before we left, a high wind sprang up. By the time we reached the open sea, it was blowing really hard, and squalls of rain were beating the decks.
We were a long time compass adjusting, and eventually we had to anchor, as the wind was on our beam, and liable to blow us ashore. One ship that was anchored here, had engine trouble, dragged her anchors and was nearly ‘beached’.
