BEEF
Well we’ve reached the Belle Isle Straits at last, and are on our way up the St Lawrence River. From what I have seen of the scenery so far, I think it is going to be a very pretty passage.
Snow seems to have fallen quite recently for the coastal hills have white patches on them, standing out against the dark background. The air is decidedly more chilly than previously. Several ice bergs were seen on the way in and two small ones were in the mouth of the river. The Admiral von Scheer has sunk the “Cornish City”, and the “Rangitiki”. She is about ½ way across the Atlantic. Rugby wireless station is coming in very badly and the interference is terrible. Several messages came through tonight, but fortunately can be decoded.
Several whales seen.
