4th August 1940
Well! At last the weather has changed for the better. The sea has been beautifully calm, and the sky has been a lovely fresh blue.
Sunday is a great day on board, because we get bacon (that’s what they call it anyway!) and eggs. Sea is also “something special”.
I pass my time away by reading architecture, woodwork, and odds and ends, besides endeavouring to design Christmas cards, learn geography, do old matric papers, sketch, and do ordinary straight drawing.
