15th August 1940
I did not go ashore until about 3pm, when I went with “Jock”. We just had a look around for souvenirs, but could find nothing that would suitably fit our pocket (as we were only allowed to draw, at the most 5 dollars).
As soon as we got back Harries asked me to go ashore again, just as I was dreaming of a nice quiet cool evening, spent talking to Jock whilst he acted as night watchman.
However, as Harries had been “on” all day, and it is not wise to go up to town alone, I went with him. We saw another picture, called “Earth Bound”.
The weather just lately has caused the thermometers to rise to somewhere in the 84’s to the 90’s.
