Average speed today = 6.6 K.P.H.
The weather has been pretty rough, and seas have been coming over the sides very regularly. As the main deck has a gunwale instead of rails, the water kept swishing about, because it was unable to get away.
The after foc’sle, where the crew are housed, was flooded out. One door was broken down.
The “well” deck, which is the lowest portion of the ship, is only 7’ or 8’ out of the water!
We should be in Halifax on Wednesday morning. I shan’t be sorry to be on the way back again. For that matter, I don’t think anybody on board will be.
The last 9 meals have consisted of beef and potatoes.
