Well I didn’t get any sleep this morning! We went up on the wireless roof (or rather I did), to see if there was any water in the batteries. Of course they were filled up, so I had to remove it. Then they were all covered with sand (even though we cleaned them before entering Curacao) so that had to be done. By the time I had finished the wind was a howling gale and spray was blowing right across the wireless room roof! I managed to get a couple of hours in this afternoon, but it doesn’t seem the same.
We changed back into blues again today (worse luck).
They think we shall go to Falmouth for orders, and also to drop our two D.B.S’s (Destressed British Seamen), which we have brought back with us. We talked about a strict black-out at home but you ought to be here! And as for letting the receiver oscillate, phow!!!
