28th June 1940
Seas have been heavy again for the best part of the day, and early this morning, soon after I had turned in, a wave slopped over the starboard side, and swamped the galley and everything surrounding it!
At about half-past-five however, the skies cleared, and the sun shone forth quite merrily, only to be eclipsed by more rain clouds, a few hours later. Still all this kind of weather is in our favour! Messages come through at all times of the day now, so one has to be ready to change wave length in a few seconds, because they don’t wait for you (strange to say). Well, tomorrow should be Liverpool! I wonder if I shall get home! Last night the Irish broadcast from Cork and Eire came through on 600m. Their news was quite interesting. They had a play on, and excepting for Elizabeth Young, the acting was terrible!
