10th March 1943
I woke at 6am, and walked to the Taj. I sat on a hill close by, and drew it as it lay behind the trees.
I remained there until 1130 and then returned to the station and waited for the 1230 which came in at 1330. I had no reserve seat, but eventually got a place. This time I had to Seik soldiers and a railway official from Quetta. The latter could speak fluent English and told me of the earthquakes and constant rumblings in Quetta. Also of the snow.
