11th April 1941
Two days ago, one of the escorting destroyers dropped four depth charges.
Yesterday, two more distress messages came through – one through war, the other through natural causes.
The sea remains much the same as before, and this morning the sun actually came out, but it doesn’t seem to like the idea much, because it hasn’t been out since.
“Benghazi” has now fallen to Germany, and so has “Salonika”. This news has caused much political conversation and minor strifes at the meal tables, but not so much as on the “Waiwera” when the “Frogs” caved in!
