Location
At Sea - Houston - Halifax
Age
18 Years

11th November 1941

Once more we have come to Armistice. How time flies.

Yesterday evening, we saw a glow in the sky on our xxx side. It was the lights of Miami! As we got closer, we could distinguish many individual lights. We were much further off than when we passed down on our way to Houston.

We are 18” overloaded!

In peacetime, chaps wouldn’t sail, if a ship was 1” overloaded, yet now they have to! Some idea will be gathered when I say that we are lower than our summer tropical marks, which is where we are supposed to be in summer tropical weather and here we are bound for the North Atlantic in Winter!

Already we are shipping seas with only a light breeze blowing.

We had a message today of a cabin cruiser out on a fishing trip from Miami, being lost.

We should reach Halifax by about Saturday or Sunday.
