TINNED MEAT
This afternoon I went up town with the two apprentices Chlem and Jock, to do some shopping and have a look round. There are two main streets that run the whole length of the town, they are St Catherine’s street and Notre Dame. St. Catherine’s is about 3 ½ miles long. There are two kinds of tram cars, yellow and green. For 7 cents you may buy a transfer ticket, and, switch about on as many trams as you like, providing you go in the same direction.
It is a very strange system and takes some getting used to. 80% of the population is French.
The people seem to be very short, and always seem to jabber away in French.
This evening, the gunner and I went to see the “Great Dictator”. I thought it was quite good, but not really worth the millions that were spent on it.
