New York - Halifax

15th July 1941

Fog persisted throughout all last night and has continued to do so today.

The constant blowing of air whistle is rather annoying, but we’ve been in fog so many times on this ship, that the majority of us don’t lose any sleep through it.

We should reach Halifax sometime tomorrow. According to the news 329,000 tons of shipping were lost last month and none during the last week. The total since war began, is 4,000,000 tons and more. A ship has just reported an armed raider who is claiming to be American.
