15th March 1942
It was a glorious morning, when I awoke. The air was clear, fresh and crisp. The sea was calm and blue, and the ships seemed so much clearer because of the sun shining on them casting deep black shadows.
Towards midday, we could actually feel the heat from the sun!
We heard on the news today that the “Exeter”, “Perth” and sloop “Yana” were lost in Java sea, besides one or two others.
Have had more positions of subs. Will be quite interesting to follow our course on the chart, because the subs. are all marked there. The latest one is a few miles bang in front of the entrance to the Delaware river! I hope he shifts before we get there!
